Provider Data Sources

Where our data comes from, how it is collected, and what standards govern its use

Every piece of rate or fee data on remit.ae is classified under a source tier. We do not claim a rate is “live” without a signed official data agreement. Always verify the final rate and fee directly with the provider before sending money.

Why We Publish This Policy

remit.ae is committed to transparency about data provenance. Remittance providers, API partners, and affiliate networks need to know how remit.ae collects data about their products, whether collection methods comply with provider terms of service, how data is attributed and labeled, and what live-rate claims are and are not made.

Source Tiers

Tier 1

Official Data Agreement

Data supplied directly by the provider via a signed data agreement, API connection, or licensed data feed.

  • Collection: Direct API connection or data feed per agreement terms
  • Attribution: Clearly attributed to the provider with a collection timestamp
  • Live rate claim: Permitted, subject to agreement terms and data feed status
  • Status: No official data agreements are currently active
Tier 2

Public Calculator Capture

Rate and fee data captured from the provider's publicly accessible quote calculator, where no login, CAPTCHA, or account is required.

  • Collection: Operator-verified public calculator check (manual or approved automated capture after terms review)
  • Attribution: Labeled with provider name, collection date, and “verify at provider”
  • Live rate claim: Not permitted — labeled as “Rate captured [date] — verify at provider before transferring”
  • Compliance: Terms of service and robots.txt reviewed before any collection begins
Tier 3

Indicative Board Rate

Exchange-house board rates observed from branch displays or publicly accessible exchange-house websites.

  • Collection: Manual observation or publicly accessible board rate pages
  • Attribution: Labeled as “Indicative rate — visit branch to confirm”
  • Live rate claim: Never permitted — these are not guaranteed transactional quotes
  • Note: Actual counter rates may differ from board rates
Tier 4

Fee Schedule Data

Transfer fee information from a provider's publicly published fee schedule, help center, or pricing page.

  • Collection: Manual review of publicly available fee schedule documentation
  • Attribution: Labeled as “Typical fee from public fee schedule — verify before transferring”
  • Live rate claim: Not permitted — fee schedules may not reflect promotional fees or surcharges
Tier 5

Provider Profile Only

Provider listed for reference only — no rate or fee data is displayed.

  • Collection: Public provider information (name, description, service area, payout options)
  • Live rate claim: Not applicable — no rate data displayed

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not scrape data from providers that prohibit scraping in their terms of service
  • We do not use login credentials to access provider-gated data
  • We do not bypass CAPTCHAs or other anti-automation measures
  • We do not use providers' APIs without a signed agreement
  • We do not claim live rates without a signed data agreement
  • We do not store API credentials in application code or public repositories

Attribution Standards

All rate and fee data displayed on the site includes:

  • The source tier label (e.g., “Rate captured from [Provider] on [date]”)
  • The collection date and time
  • A freshness caveat where applicable
  • A prompt to verify directly with the provider

See our Data Freshness Policy for details on collection intervals and freshness windows.
