What is Aani and how does it work?

Aani is the UAE's domestic instant payment system, operated by Al Etihad Payments (a CBUAE subsidiary) under the Financial Infrastructure Transformation Programme. It enables instant AED transfers by mobile number (proxy), request-to-pay, bill splitting, and QR payments — settlement in under 10 seconds. It is domestic UAE only, AED only, with a limit of up to AED 50,000 per transaction (verify at official source). Launched October 2023. remit.ae does not integrate with Aani.

Can I use Aani to send money abroad?

No. Aani is domestic UAE only — AED within the UAE. For international transfers to India, Pakistan, the Philippines, etc., use a remittance app or exchange house.

How do I access Aani?

Through your bank app or exchange house app if your institution participates. Look for the Aani section or instant payment feature.

What is the Aani transaction limit?
